Mirrored Self

Your eyes pierce mine and see my very soul,
they see my dream, my desire, my one true goal.

The flaws I find will never escape my sight,
You curse my critique and start to fight.
but you know I'll win, I always have before,
I will never stay away because there is so much more.

You will never be perfect, your goal forever incomplete,
So your confidence drains and slips under your cold feet.
I find all your faults and circle them with scorn,
And this goal of perfection you will begin to mourn.

I will never cease and I will never stop,
Until you've had enough and the pieces then drop.
They fall to the ground, tiny pieces scatter the floor,
you look at the jagged shards and declare, 'No More'.

These mirrored glass pieces, all broken apart,
now symbolize the moment you stopped breaking your own heart.

I will love who I am
I will love who I am

because

I am enough
I am enough
